The spider that matters in Hurricane is the black widow. Widows don't wander; they find a sheltered, undisturbed spot and stay. The town is full of those spots: the broken lava rock on the bench, rock landscaping and block walls in every newer neighborhood, sheds and woodpiles on old-town lots, and garages and storage closets in rentals that nobody opens for weeks.
Most other spiders here are a nuisance rather than a danger. Wolf spiders hunt on the ground and wander into houses, especially in fall. Cobweb and orb weavers string webs across eaves, patios, and porch lights. All of them follow their food, so a yard with plenty of insects, from fields, orchards, irrigation, or porch lights left on, will always have more spiders.
That's why knocking down webs only works for a week or two. The lasting approach is to treat the cracks and voids where spiders hide, check the sheltered spots widows prefer by hand, and cut down the insects they're eating. On homes near the cliffs and the open desert, that means paying close attention to rock borders, wall caps, and the gaps under garage doors.
Pests this covers
Every spider control visit includes all of this. Where the time goes depends on your address.
Hurricane isn't one pest problem, and it isn't one treatment either. These are the parts of the city where this service does the most work, and why.

Sheds, woodpiles, stacked materials, and older outbuildings on big lots. Widows settle into these year-round, and the insects from gardens and fruit trees keep spiders well fed.
Vacation rentals and second homes where garages, storage closets, and patio furniture sit undisturbed between stays. Webs and widows build up quietly, and guests are often the ones who find them.
Established homes bordering open desert. Wolf spiders and other hunters come straight in off the surrounding ground when the weather cools, usually under doors and through garages.

Desert pest pressure is seasonal and it's predictable. Knowing which window you're in is most of knowing what to book.
SpringMarch – May
Spiders become active as insects return. A spring treatment around eaves, wall caps, and rock borders gets ahead of the summer build-up.
Widow seasonMay – October
Black widows are most active in the warm months, though they shelter year-round. Any sighting is worth checking the nearby sheltered spots, like meter boxes, block wall gaps, and garage corners.
The fall pushSeptember – November
As nights cool, insects and the spiders that hunt them move toward warm walls. Hurricane's slightly cooler nights can bring this on a bit sooner than in the St. George valley.
If the pests come back, so do we.

The one to take seriously is the western black widow, which is common here in rock landscaping, block walls, sheds, garages, and meter boxes. Bites are uncommon and rarely serious for healthy adults, but they do warrant medical attention, especially for children and older adults. Brown recluse spiders are not established in Utah, despite how often they get blamed. Desert relatives exist, but they're rarely an issue indoors.
Because a block wall is perfect for them. The gaps in the caps, the weep holes, and the rock landscaping at the base give widows sheltered, undisturbed spots right next to a steady supply of insects. We treat those voids directly and check them by hand rather than just spraying the wall face.
Put it on a regular schedule. Spiders build up quickly in a home that sits empty, especially in garages, patios, and window corners. We can time visits around your bookings so the house is de-webbed and treated before guests check in, and coordinate with your cleaners or property manager.
That's part of it, but it's not the job. We remove webs from eaves, corners, and entryways, treat the cracks and voids spiders hide in, and treat for the insects they eat. If the insect supply stays, new webs will be back in a couple of weeks.
Spider control is included in the recurring plans. In Hurricane the main thing a plan buys you is consistency, with the sheltered spots checked on every visit rather than after a widow turns up in the garage. Most Hurricane homes sit on one of our monthly plans: Pest Control at $65/mo (quarterly service), Pest + Weed at $125/mo (bi-monthly service), or White Glove at $599/mo (by appointment only). Larger properties or heavy infestations can run higher, and we'll quote that up front after a free inspection.
Every visit covers: web removal from eaves, corners, and entryways; treatment of cracks, voids, and hiding spots; reduction of the insects spiders feed on; exterior barrier to stop spiders before they get in. What changes by address is the weighting. Sky Mountain & the bench and Old-town Hurricane are two different jobs, so the technician decides on site where the time is best spent rather than running the same checklist everywhere.

Tell us what’s bugging you and we’ll get back to you fast with a free quote, usually the same day.
