Thousands of travelers pass through Hurricane on the way to Zion, and every one of them brings luggage. That's how bed bugs move.

Bed bugs have nothing to do with how clean a place is, and nothing to do with the desert, because they live indoors. They don't fly and they don't come in from the yard. They ride in on suitcases, backpacks, secondhand furniture, and moving boxes, and Hurricane sees a lot of all of those. Motels along State Street and hundreds of short-term rentals host a steady stream of visitors heading to Zion and Sand Hollow.
For rental owners, that makes bed bugs a business problem. One guest can bring them in, and the next guest can find them. Catching them early, between stays, is far easier and cheaper than dealing with them after a bad review or a refund request. Cleaners who know what to look for are the best early-warning system a rental can have.
Bed bugs hide close to where people sleep: in mattress seams, box-spring frames, headboard joints, bed-frame screw holes, and behind loose baseboards or outlet covers. The eggs are the reason one visit is rarely enough. They're protected from most treatments and hatch over the next week or two, which is how a treatment that seemed to work turns into a second infestation. Every job we do includes a follow-up timed to that hatch.
Pests this covers
Every bed bug treatment visit includes all of this. Where the time goes depends on your address.
Hurricane isn't one pest problem, and it isn't one treatment either. These are the parts of the city where this service does the most work, and why.
Vacation rentals with constant guest turnover. A single infested suitcase can start a problem, and the next guest is often the one who finds it, so inspection between stays matters.
Motels and lodging serving Zion traffic. High turnover in the busy season brings more chances for bed bugs to arrive, and rooms that share walls can pass them along.
Older homes, some converted to rentals or apartments. Older trim, baseboards, and wall gaps give bed bugs more places to hide, so the inspection takes longer.
Mostly owner-occupied homes, where bed bugs usually arrive one identifiable way: a trip, a visiting guest, or a used furniture purchase. These cases tend to be caught early and clear up quickly.

Desert pest pressure is seasonal and it's predictable. Knowing which window you're in is most of knowing what to book.
InspectionAs soon as you suspect it
Room by room, in the seams, frames, joints, and gaps near where people sleep. We confirm it's actually bed bugs before treating, because bites alone aren't proof.
First treatmentDay one
Targeted treatment of every hiding spot we find, plus the surrounding cracks and trim. You'll get prep instructions ahead of time, and following them closely is a big part of whether treatment works. For rentals, we can work around your booking calendar.
Follow-up1 – 2 weeks later
Timed to the egg hatch. We re-inspect and re-treat wherever there's activity. Most jobs are done after this visit; heavier infestations can need a third.
If the pests come back, so do we.
Free re-treats between scheduled visits, no questions, no extra invoice. That’s the Butter Promise.

Don't panic, and don't just swap the sheets. Book an inspection before the next check-in if you can. Bites alone don't prove bed bugs, and plenty of reports turn out to be something else. If we do find them, we'll treat, schedule the follow-up around your bookings, and give you a written record of what we found and did.
Look for physical signs: small rust-colored spots on sheets or along the mattress seam, dark specks on the box spring or behind the headboard, shed skins, and the bugs themselves, which are flat, oval, and about the size of an apple seed. Check the mattress piping and box-spring frame first, then the headboard.
Usually not, and doing it too early can make things worse. Bed bugs are rarely only in the mattress, so tossing it leaves the ones in the frame and headboard behind and can spread them as you carry it out. A treated mattress with a protective encasement is the normal outcome. If something truly needs to go, we'll tell you.
Have them check the mattress seams, the corners of the box spring, and the headboard on every turnover, looking for small dark spots, shed skins, or live bugs. Mattress encasements make this much easier, because bugs and spots stand out on a plain surface. We're happy to show a cleaning crew what to look for.
Bed bug work is quoted per property after the inspection, priced on how many rooms are involved rather than a flat rate, with the follow-up visit included. There's no distance surcharge for Hurricane. Either way you get the number before any work starts, and there's no trip charge for Hurricane: we're based in St. George, so it's a routine stop on our route rather than a special trip.
Every visit covers: room-by-room inspection of beds, frames, and furniture; targeted treatment of seams, voids, and hiding spots; a follow-up visit timed to the egg hatch; prep instructions so the treatment works. What changes by address is the weighting. Sand Hollow rentals & resort area and State Street & the Zion corridor are two different jobs, so the technician decides on site where the time is best spent rather than running the same checklist everywhere.
