Termites in southern Utah
Subterranean termites are well established across Washington County, and the warm climate keeps them working nearly all year. They live in the soil and reach the house through shelter tubes, pencil-width mud tunnels running up foundations, slab edges, and stucco. The desert is dry, but irrigated yards are not: drip lines and sprinklers against the foundation, leaky pipes, planters built up against walls, and wood touching soil all give termites the moisture they need. Newer homes aren't immune, since termites can come up through cracks in a slab or behind stucco where it meets the ground. Termite inspections are also a normal part of home sales in St. George, so problems often surface right when an owner least wants them to. Drywood termites are much less common here, but we check for them as well.
Why it matters
Termites don't bite, sting, or carry disease, so the risk is to the structure, and it grows quietly. They eat wood from the inside and leave the surface intact, so a colony can work through framing for years before anything is visible indoors. An early inspection is the biggest factor in what the repair ends up costing.

When are termites most active around St. George?
Subterranean termites are a year-round issue in southern Utah because the soil here rarely gets cold enough to slow them. Most people only see them when winged swarmers emerge, usually on warm spring days and sometimes after summer rains, leaving wings on windowsills. The real activity happens out of sight, which is why an inspection tells you more than the calendar does.
Are termites dangerous?
Termites don't bite, sting, or carry disease, so the risk is to the structure, and it grows quietly. They eat wood from the inside and leave the surface intact, so a colony can work through framing for years before anything is visible indoors. An early inspection is the biggest factor in what the repair ends up costing.
How do you get rid of termites?
We follow a straightforward approach: inspect the foundation, slab edges, stucco, and any crawl space for tubes and damage; confirm the species and rule out ants, which can look similar; treat the soil and structure where activity is found; fix what attracted them: irrigation, moisture, wood-to-soil contact, and grade. We use EPA-registered products, applied precisely per label.
What products do you use around kids and pets?
We use EPA-registered products, applied carefully according to the label and only where pests travel, not where your family and pets spend time. Before we treat, we'll gladly explain what we're using, how long it takes to dry, and when it's fine to go back into treated areas.
What if the termites come back?
If pests come back between your scheduled visits, we come back too, and we re-treat at no charge. There's no trip fee, no extra invoice, and no back-and-forth about it.
